The full name of this place is Taft Gardens and Nature Preserve. Seen here is the nature preserve. I remembered this part well from my first visit.

Taft Gardens revisited

It was my second visit, but the first for Mrs. It remains a rugged botanical wonder in the Ojai hinterlands where obscure South African and Australian plant specimens thrive.

To the eyes these birds sure looked like cedar waxwings, but to the ears their loud squeals didn't match the high pitch calls I listened to on the Internet. It's a shame because this would have been my first encounter.

Thanksgiving '23

The highlights of this year's Thanksgiving meal were 1) Nut Loaf from Farmer and the Cook, probably the best nut loaf I have ever had and 2) Non-alcoholic chardonnay from Trader Joe's, probably the best non-alcoholic chardonnay I have ever had. Honorable mentions to the carrots and mashed potatoes. And of course, the cooks.

Grant Park moonrise

Swinging my head around in the other direction, the moon was seen rising in the sky. Unfortunately my camera did not capture the full glory of that bright celestial circle, but I assure you that the glory was there.
