Zendo Coffee
When the train stopped in Albuquerque for over half an hour, I walked in the blazing heat to the nearest real coffee house - Zendo Coffee. I also bought a couple apples at Silver Street Market.

Lupton, AZ
The famous "Indian Village" near the AZ-NM border - a.k.a. Lupton, AZ - as seen from the train. Later I would drive by this place heading the other direction on Interstate 40.

beyond Flagstaff
I had meant to get a picture of Sunset Crater, but it was too late. What I noticed instead was that the whole area just beyond Flagstaff and the San Francisco Peaks is studded with volcanic cones and craters.

Traxx
It's nice whenever a train station has an in-house restaurant where you can get a decent bowl of soup and salad. This place has been here for years and will hopefully remain for years. Seen here: tomato soup and kale caesar salad.

L.A. Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge
I had been in the Amtrak "Metropolitan Lounge" for sleeper passengers in Chicago and elsewhere, but this was my first time at the one in L.A. Union Station. Same concept, multiple amenities - clean bathrooms, comfortable chairs, snacks, coffee and a secure place to leave your bags (to name a few).

Los Angeles Union Station
They really do a good job keeping this place looking sharp. What was new was this exhibit about the old Chinatown on this site, some landscaping in the courtyard and a patio for the restaurant Traxx. I don't remember ever seeing that before.
