This creature we saw in Monterey harbor is probably a thornback ray or thornback guitarfish. I hope it's the latter because I like the word guitarfish.

Los Angeles Union Station
Built later than most of the country's big train terminals (1930's vs. turn of the century), Los Angeles Union Station is one of the best preserved and best looking.
El Paso bridge
I have been on this train quite a few times as it passes through El Paso and am very aware that a not very wide Rio Grande separates the US from Mexico. When I photographed this bridge however I couldn't help but wonder if this is really the Rio Grande and what is the nature of this bridge that crosses it? Could this actually be a fork of the Rio Grande on the US side?
