Novo

One of the most pleasant things about downtown San Luis Obispo is dining along the creek that runs near the mission. This was our first ever visit to Novo, long overdue and well worth the ambiance alone. The food wasn't too shabby either.

Arroyo Verde 2022

Hadn't been here in a while. Under these February conditions the park offered a nice mix of island views, green hills, and early California poppies combined with the usual crazy steep trails.

The Dutchess

We finally got to try out the coffee-and-pastry component of The Dutchess, a new restaurant in Ojai. The coffee, pastries and wallpaper were all good; the crowd was not, but we learned a lesson not to stroll in during the peak morning hours.

Panino

A stop in sleepy Santa Ynez resulted in an unplanned lunch at Panino, which proved to be an excellent choice. We lingered in the warm outdoor courtyard for quite some time. It was our first visit to this particular location of the local Panino chain.

Hans Christian Andersen Park

It was satisfying to go to Hans Christian Andersen Park and hike past fresh grass and fabulously gnarled oaks to the point where you could see our hotel (below).
