So we made it our destination, the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve, and the best part was this area on the outskirts of the reserve, where every hipster from Los Angeles could be seen roaming through the flowers. Looking at older photos, I could tell that this year's "superbloom" was not the most super on record. Still, it was worth the drive and worth learning that once upon a time antelope-like pronghorns did roam these plains (hence the name).
