For "birthday eve dinner" we found a new (for us) Italian restaurant with nice outdoor seating in an enclosed courtyard with European vibes. Something different and I liked it.

another good pool
One very good thing about the Hotel Corque was the swimming pool - definitely the best pool of Birthday Month and one of the best pools of the year.
Hotel Corque
The Hotel Corque exceeded my expectations. It's currently managed by a partnership between Marriott and the local Chumash tribe, and to all appearances the partnership works well. It was a great place to celebrate my birthday.
Flavors
Just a few doors down from our hotel in Solvang a person could get a cappuccino at Flavors. This was our first time there and I would say the coffee is good but not the very best in town.

Rascal's revisited
In celebration of Birthday Month we revisited Rascal's in Santa Barbara. As I recall there were a few bumps in the road - one being parking - but the food was as good as I remembered.
