Adelaide Botanic Garden, part 6

Just behind the Amazon Waterlily Pavilion, visible above, was the unusual plant I could never identify at Seaside Gardens in Carpinteria, CA. It turns out to be Puya chilensis, a bromeliad from Chile. This spiny creature is said to be capable of entangling and killing sheep and birds. In the background below is the Araucaria Avenue.
