A charmingly sleepy town west of Cayuga Lake (population 1,714). Named for Abner Tremaine, an early settler granted land here for his Revolutionary War service. Somehow the Tremaine name, which is a variation of Treman, got turned into Trumansburg - even though Truman was never a a variation of that name. America is a place where people seem not to lose sleep over misspellings and mispronunciations.
I may have some sleep issues tonight over this. Thanks. 🤪
