Silver Tree

 

Silver Tree, Leucadendron argentum, a native of the Fynbos plant community in South Africa. It's not only very rare in California, but seriously endangered in its native habitat. For centuries Cape settlers harvested these trees for firewood. Seen at the Ventura Botanical Gardens.
