Walking back from Serafina we saw lots of people milling around the Morgan Library and so asked what was going on. By chance it was a free night, and since Mrs. had never seen the place - what a nice opportunity! There is also the coincidence that we had just seen the Peabody Library, and Peabody was the business partner of J.S. Morgan, father of J.P. Morgan, whose library this was. Makes you realize that for those guys building beautiful libraries was all the rage, just as today's business tycoons like firing rockets up into space. At least the first Gilded Age left behind some buildings of lasting value - like this one.
A lovely place to settle down to a nice book.
