While not the cheapest way to travel, hiring a car to bring us back to Manhattan was easy and fast. In fact this was probably the route my parents took to get to my uncle's for holiday gatherings. While the Manhattan skyline has certainly changed (above), this entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel (below) looks strangely familiar - like something I probably stared at helplessly from the back seat of my parents' car.
One hopes your mother never lost/left a jacket in the hired car on those journeys.
