great-tailed grackle

I was struck by the loud, hyperactive birds in the courtyard of our Scottsdale, AZ hotel. It turns out they were great-tailed grackles, Quiscalus mexicanus. As the name suggests, they inhabit a huge range centered on Mexico. These were the first of many we would encounter on our trip.
