We did not know that javelinas - pig-like animals in the Peccary family - were abundant in Sedona, AZ. So imagine our surprise when we came back from dinner and saw not one or two but about ten of these large creatures wandering past our lodging. We did not know if they were as potentially dangerous as the more familiar wild boar. We almost found out when Mrs. Katel got their attention. Like any wild animal, best to let them go their way.
It was a great birthday present seeing the javelinas.
