An overdue visit to this classic Tucson hotel, owned and operated by the same family since 1930. Coming from Ajo this was fitting, since the founder of the hotel dynasty was Isabella Greenway, wife of the aforementioned John Campbell Greenway of Ajo copper mining fame. Mrs. Greenway was also Arizona's first congresswoman, a friend of Eleanor Roosevelt, and founder of "The Arizona Hut" - a philanthropic project which put disabled WWI veterans to work making furniture. Needless to say, Mrs. Greenway was a very accomplished woman who left her mark on both Arizona and the Arizona Inn. (NOTE: the hotel actually provides a complimentary history of the hotel and Mrs. Greenway, seen at bottom).
I like the strong sense of family still felt at the Inn.
