Once a mining town, Patagonia was supposedly given its name by Welsh miners from the South American region of the same name. Like Ajo, the tiny town had a good size train depot (below) to connect it to the larger world. The surrounding hills were rich with copper, silver, lead and molybdenum. The mining era is over, but some preservation hero saved the depot from demolition. Today Patagonia is a progressively-minded retiree community.
I’ve never heard of molybdenum. Will have to look that one up.
