Once a thriving resort and spa with dance hall and casino, Radium Springs Gardens is now a roadside curiosity in southeastern Georgia. The famous turquoise waters were thought to be curative. A combination of fire and flood took out the main building (opened in 1927) and what remains is a peaceful park. Signs informed us that the spring was "not flowing at its normal rate", so the famous color was subdued.
It was too bad the level of water wasn’t enough to have its usual flow and also that some areas were closed off. Still, I’m glad we went.
