I had been on the Queen Mary before but it was good to see it again. Despite a little bit of peeling paint, and in contrast to the nearby rusty Soviet sub, the ship's condition had been very much improved. It still functions as a hotel despite an abundance of ghosts. It also doubles as a maritime museum focused on golden days of ocean liners. Strange to think my mom, who never made it to California, took this ship to Europe in the 50s. Now that Mrs. has toured it with her brother, it will always have a family connection for both of us.
