This was my first VIA Rail ride - Toronto to Windsor. It did not disappoint. It was a world apart from Amtrak and, as I had hoped, more like a European train. Granted we rode first class, and that probably contributed to the positive experience. The seats were comfortable, the service was excellent, the restrooms were clean and operating properly, and the meal was exceptional. We had requested something vegetarian and were presented with what might be the most delicious pasta concoction ever served on a train.
Well, it was business class, the only other “class” other than coach, so guess it was first class, though not called that. Business class on Amtrak isn’t anywhere near first class.
