Then we went to the epicenter of the madding crowd: down by the rain gauge, which was next to the visitor center that the cruise ship passengers gather in and around. The welcome sign informs us that Ketchikan is the "salmon capital of the world", which I suppose is compatible with being the bald eagle capital of North America - since the eagles feed on salmon.
Ahh yes- hadn’t put those two aspects together, but makes perfect sense.
