In contrast to the lunch spot, which was a success, the only coffee spot we could find was poorly organized and served unspectacular coffee drinks. Drinks unfinished but in to-go cups, we decided to take a stroll across the street in a little park by the harbor. As these photos show, it was a spectacular decision. The stroll might have been extended when concern about how we would get back to the ship erupted, with a cab vs. walking debate that instead of leading to consensus led to frayed tempers and a walk of at about a mile with concerns of being mauled by a bear. (Apparently we reached the ship without that happening). One thing we apparently did agree on was not to go onto downtown Juneau while they were having some sort of tribal festival. It all worked out, but a small part of us wistfully regrets not seeing downtown Juneau with its no doubt superior coffee houses.
There were quite a few concerns going on. Thankfully none of them played out.
ReplyDeleteI think it was well over a mile.
