In addition to the familiar anemones and mussels, and some very interesting barnacles, highlights of these tide pools included starfish and a giant green anemone - Anthopleura xanthogrammica. First time I ever saw one of these fluorescent creatures!

I had been to the park here but not the beach. It was nice - full of rocks, birds and tide pools.

probably a royal tern

As opposed to a Caspian tern, which has a deep orange bill. As seen on the beach in Carpinteria, intermingled with gulls and possibly other tern species.
