Tahquitz Canyon

One of the highlights of the entire road trip was this morning hike at Tahquitz Canyon in Palm Springs. It's another example of a great park managed by the local tribe that has revered it for centuries - in this case the Agua Cliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.

oil crisis

Sometimes you drive into California at high speed only to learn that your engine has burned up all the oil thus causing warning lights to flash while traffic halts in the middle of the Mojave Desert due to a flipped truck. Thankfully you make it to Chiriaco Summit where you add three quarts of oil.

Picacho Peak revisited

Well not exactly revisited, but driven by as part of the "there ain't much lodging between Tucson and Phoenix" fiasco. The clouds were nice.

Saguaro National Park revisited

The fact that it had just rained made the terrain sing.

 

Hotel Congess revisited

I always enjoy the lobby of this historic hotel, and this time had a glimpse of Copper Hall (below) - a room available to rent for private and special events.

Cup Cafe revisited

Heaps of character in the heart of Tucson. I think I had an Impossible Burger.
