The old carriage house on the Myrtle Terrace property is a wonderful piece of the "Top-of-the-Hill" historic district. The main house had some prominent occupants including John Hunter, the Mayor of Natchez during the Civil War. By surrendering the city to the Union Army, he saved the city (and many of its historic structures) from bombardment. The carriage house is now a rental. We may have stayed in it.
