We always liked the combination bookstore / coffee house Bookworks in Pacific Grove and apparently many others do too. Finding a table there was almost as hard as finding a parking spot in Carmel, but found one we did - albeit in a tight corner. I love that this family-run operation has been in business since 1980. To quote their website, "Come in and enjoy the warm and friendly environment".
They are also gluten free friendly. I hope it sticks around for a long, long time. Both parts of the business.
