Also looking spectacularly colorful was the South African Fynbos Garden at the Ventura Botanical Gardens. "Fynbos" seems to be the South African counterpart to our "Chaparral". I have heard these striking plants called proteas, pincushions and sugarbushes.
I even saw some for sale at Home Depot the other day. I think. 🤔
