I had for some time wanted to visit Mesa Verde and southwest Colorado. Great to finally see them. It was a long and winding road to get to the ruins though. The Cliff Palace, and the ruins in general, appeared smaller in real life (than photos), but maybe because I saw them from a distance. Strictly speaking, this park is an archeological site, and a remote one at that.
It was too bad that the one dwelling site that is NORMALLY accessible was NOT accessible at the time we were there.
