Taking the main road (Arizona state route 89A) through and beyond Jerome, the highway continues to be narrow and windy. The elevation of Jerome is just over 5000 feet; Mingus Mountain in Prescott National Forest is over 7000 feet - so there is a bit of an elevation gain as well. Despite all that driving conditions were good and crossing the forest was not too difficult.
It was a beautiful drive.
