Since Yucca Valley is a convenient stopping point for us, it was great to find this new low-frills boutique hotel, evidently an older property with a contemporary makeover. We've encountered these properties before, and it was clear that Field Station was lovingly designed for the Joshua Tree traveler. The warm, cozy lobby doubled as a cafe and had games, information and reading materials - just no proper dice for the backgammon board!
Well, the front desk clerk was helpful and DID find something we could use as dice.
