Port Orford and Battle Rock

Port Orford got its name from Captain George Vancouver when he sailed here in 1792. Much later, in 1851, the U.S. established a fort and interactions with the natives did not go well. A deadly confrontation occurred at Battle Rock, seen here. From my research it sounds like the unevenly matched battle was also an Indian massacre.
