Although controversial, the Glen Canyon Dam is certainly an impressive product of its time, when big engineering ruled the day. The dam was authorized by John F. Kennedy in 1963 and officially dedicated by First Lady Ladybird Johnson on September 22, 1966. The bridge back to Page (bottom photo) reminded me of the Navajo Bridge.
I don’t know much about the dam, or its authorization, but 1963 is a good year.
