spatter cone

 

A student of volcanoes - the field is called Volcanology - might take an interest in this spatter cone - apparently a smaller cone venting lava in the vicinity of a larger volcano.

    Not sure I have heard that term before. If I did, I forgot it and am glad to be reminded of it.
