the campsite


It took a while to find the right spot, away from the sticks and debris sloughing off these two huge eucalyptus trees, the branches of which are themselves a hazard. By day it seemed ideal but that night the full moon shone like a flood light and strong winds howled up through Scorpion Canyon. I didn't recognize it at the time, but that canyon is the same one Ted and I hiked through in 2008 (bottom photo).
