It just so happened, as we arrived at Tohono Chul, that they were giving a raptor presentation. It was actually a very good presentation. I learned all about the aplomado falcon, seen below, a native of South America that is such an effective deterrent of rodents that U.S. vineyards will "hire" them. Needless to say it's a beautiful bird. Also featured were owls; the little one seen above is a western screech owl, and at bottom a great horned owl.
Yes, it was great timing to see these beauties.
