Not too far from the resort was a place called Tohono Chul that I had never heard of. It's a park, botanical garden and nature center all rolled into one - and evidently a popular Tucson destination. We enjoyed exploring the nearby trails, some of which featured Christmas decorations; apparently there are longer ones that go higher into the foothills.
Due to the heat, the length of our visit there was perfect.
