We went back to that trailhead near
Donner Pass and hiked south from the
I-80 to
Old Highway 40 and back - about seven miles? Definitely the most ambitious hike we have undertaken together, and one of the most rewarding. Little did we know that there were wildfires raging not too far away, which accounted for the heavy haze.
