By pure chance we were staying in Rhode Island during the completion of the Block Island Wind Farm, the nation's first commercial offshore wind farm. Although when we first saw this bizarre vessel pulling out of Narragansett Bay, we had no idea what it was. It turns out these platforms were built in Houma, Louisiana, where they know a thing or two about offshore platforms.
