By far the strangest organisms I saw at the the Viva Baja! exhibit were these garden eels. Actually they are some of the strangest organisms I have ever seen. They rise worm-like out of the sand - mostly in unison - look around intently, and then quickly retract underground - I suppose out of fear. A few moments later they rise again.
