The Rugby, ND station as seen from the Empire Builder. Rugby's claim to fame is that it was thought to be the geographic center of North America. Another geographer however has since determined that the actual center is Center, ND - an extraordinary coincidence since the town of that name already existed. Center is 105 miles southwest of Rugby.
Someone who named Center probably thought it was likely the center. If so, they were right.
