This was my first time ever at this station, and the first time since the 90s taking the Empire Builder. My impression was that it was a nice, clean and well-organized station. The current restaurant is called 1881 by Lake Elmo Inn in reference to the year the station opened.
Personally, I would rather the restaurant be in a room off the station lobby rather than a roped off area smack dab in the station. Yes, I know one of the Denver restaurants are IN the train station in somewhat the same manner, but it has a bit more feeling of “designated restaurant space”. .
