Sometimes driving up a mountain feels like cheating to me. But Kate wasn't up for the hike, so we compromised: I drove up with her to the Hot Springs Mountain Tower, then hiked down. The trail I took - the "Short Cut Trail"- was easy, beautiful, and virtually empty.
