The next photo I took turned out to be my best of the entire trip. It was my first bison encounter - on a road at any rate - and there was a lot of excitement and uncertainty about how to proceed. Fortunately the bison obeyed all rules of traffic. I passed slowly and respectfully but managed to snap this photo at just the right moment.
