The town of Apalachicola had a sleepy, forgotten quality that at times reminded me of the Australian outback. Like those funny towns there, people here like to drink beer, drive jeeps and wear sun hats. Other parts of town looked just plain forgotten.
Yes, it was a town unlike any I had ever been to in the U.S.
