The "forgotten" moniker seems to fit the next lengthy stretch of Highway 98, wherein the Apalachicola National Forest runs along one side and a placid Gulf of Mexico dotted with low islands runs along the other. When you see all these damaged piers and tree skeletons, bear in mind that this coastline has seen many hurricanes.
