Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier, part 3

Maybe the best show visible from the pier were the surfers, braving what to me seemed like pretty turbulent surf. What I like is the feeling of being offshore and right out there with the surfers, almost close enough to toss them a snack bar, but remaining safe on the sturdy pier. (As a side note this pier was built after Hurricane Opal destroyed its predecessor 1995, and the new one is not only designed to weather a hurricane, but has special low-pressure lights that are more turtle-friendly. Bottom photo suggests a degree of ecological awareness.)

  1. Very interesting about the pier. I like it. And I agree about the sense of being out at sea while remaining high and dry at the same time.
