This 1937-built former Harvey House is for me one of the other highlights of Petrified Forest National Park. It is wonderfully designed and situated to take in sweeping views of the surrounding Painted Desert. This could not be the setting for the film "Petrified Forest" because the film was released in 1936 and the play it was based on ran in 1935. The building was closed when we arrived so we just walked around it and peeked in the windows.
I would have LOVED to have stayed there in its heyday!
