Another point of interest was seeing this historic marker about Richard Wright (1908-1960), the groundbreaking African American author who was born in the Natchez area. Among his notable works are Native Son (1940) and Black Boy (1945). His work paved the way for others including Ralph Ellison and James Baldwin.
I’ve definitely heard of Native Son, but have not read it.
