Marion Square

Marion Square is a big, mostly empty public square in the middle of Charleston. It's named for one of South Carolina's most famous sons - Francis Marion, a Revolutionary War general whose pioneering of guerrilla warfare tactics earned him the nickname "The Swamp Fox". The big pink building that resembles The Citadel actually was the original Citadel from 1843 to 1922. The famous military academy moved northwest of here and this building is now a hotel - Embassy Suites by Hilton

  1. Either I forgot or I did not know that about the Embassy Suites. Interesting.
