This unusual structure, known as "Vessel", opened in 2019. Sadly, three suicides occurred within the first three years and the structure was closed. Later in 2021 it was reopened with added safety measures, but within months there was a fourth suicide. Since then it has been closed indefinitely. Since New York has a long history of people jumping off skyscrapers, perhaps it should stick to lower, friendlier structures like Little Island, which at least has some connection with nature.
How sad (primarily about the suicides, but also sad that the building is now left abandoned). Was it to be used as an office building? A bizarre looking structure.
